Hi – I’m Gabby! I am a 29 year old walking mess. I laugh too much…I swear too much…and baking & decorating is a passion that I have like no other! I am married to the love of my life – John. We have been together for 6 years and share an adorable pup named Fido…who is currently the second walking mess in our home. A few years ago I took a summer semester off from college and found myself trying to find a hobby to get into. I went to Michael’s craft store and bought a $9 box of fondant, a cake magazine and the rest is history!
Baking has become such a big part of my life. While simple has become the more modern style in today’s society…for me the crazier or more intricate – the better! Chocolate and vanilla are great flavors but chocolate chip cookie dough and french toast are heavenly. Weekly I am trying new recipes or creating new ideas and although it can be a bit crazy some days, I wouldn’t change it for the world. I sometimes laugh that I found a passion in something so simple. There are people determined to change this crazy world through “more practical” avenues and mine just so happens to be through cake! The smiles, tears, laughs and memories from a CAKE are what make the endless nights and weekends of baking 150% worth it. There is nothing that I love more than getting into the kitchen, pulling my mixer out and causing absolute chaos (literally).
In the spring of 2019 I took my passion to a whole new level and was approved as a new member of downtown’s Indy Kitchen. Working out of an approved kitchen space also allowed me to officially become licensed. While this is just the next step – it was an exciting one that is paving the way for a future career in doing what I love! Many of you have grown with me over the years which is what makes this more incredible. There has been nothing more rewarding than being a small part of such beautiful memories. Birthdays, anniversaries, holiday’s, weddings, showers – I’m truly thankful to be a part of it all!
Meet the newest addition to the Gabby’s Cakes team – my amazing assistant: Alexandrea Hall. Alex started working with Gabby’s Cakes in July of 2019 coordinating special events, handling emails, invoices, contracts and much more! Alex brings a fun and spunky personality to Gabby’s Cakes and will truly be a delight to work with. Her wonderful sense of humor and willingness to provide the best customer service is what will make her such an incredible asset.
Getting to know Alex:
Alex has always had a passion for planning and organizing which makes Gabby’s Cakes the perfect place to apply her most valued skills. When not at work she says that you are almost guaranteed to find her at the gym or outside exercising. She has a huge passion for running and is always out and about exploring when time allows. When asked if Alex had any hidden secrets – she replied: “I’m not a secret keeper, but a hidden fact about me would be that I am the biggest Harry Potter fan of all time!” Alex sports a full tattoo sleeve of Harry Potter tattoos and loves them more than anything. Lastly (but most importantly) when it comes to desserts – Alex’s favorite is anything lemon flavored but her all time favorite is red velvet cheeseball.
I couldn’t be more excited and thankful for Alex and her timing couldn’t have been more perfect! I look forward to having her along for this fun & crazy cake ride and look forward to what the future holds as Gabby’s Cakes continues to grow.
